As the sun rises on the new year and illuminates the horizon, casting a fresh and positive feeling over the high desert of Northern Nevada, it marks a new chapter in the life of this gal, who, since August 2023 has been navigating the uncharted waters of retirement after 30 years in the corporate world.
As an individual with a passion for photography, blogging, mentoring, and teaching, I find myself at the crossroads of possibilities, 100% retirement, part-time retirement, or go full speed into my photography business. What path do I take in this new and exciting year?
Retirement is a ride of emotions which offers me both challenges and opportunities. So, here I am, wrestling with the decision of what to do and which way to proceed…whether to continue Inspiring Photographers (So much of my heart and soul has gone into creating inspiring courses, classes, and challenges) or to completely allow myself the indulgence of shooting only for myself. Just me and my camera, maybe but maybe not, only the future with tell.
I have an undeniable optimism for the year ahead, even though I am not sure which path I will follow, however, I can say the idea of unscheduled, unstructured time to saturate myself fully in photography or anything else I choose, sparks a sense of creative freedom and exploration for me but not sharing what I know and have learned over the years feels very foreign to me.
As we enter this new year, an important reminder echoes through me…the importance of being kind and enjoying the moments that define this life. Recognizing that time is the most precious commodity we have and it urges me to embrace the present fully.
So, as we step into 2024 together, let’s cherish the beautiful moments waiting to be captured.
